African-Americans have come a long way since slavery, but we still have a long way to go. Every time I see black people – young and old – living a successful life, I feel our ancestors beaming with pride. However, the plight of the masses of our people is far more important than those of us who have survived colonialism and slavery with our sanity intact. In order to bridge this gap, we need a black agenda that addresses black people not just in America, but throughout Africa and the Diaspora. This is timely as there is so much buzz around diversity, equity, inclusion and reparations. Since there are so many interpretations and perspectives about what this means, we need a unified agenda centered around goals and resources to bridge this gap.
